Well, Freddy,
It seems I have more than just a window now. I wonder if you have one where they’re keeping you in protective custody.
Ironic, isn’t it, that I should be free and you in custody? A far cry from what you envisioned for me, no? What was it? “You’ll spend the rest of your life sitting on the floor in a state institution watching the diaper cart go by.” I think not, Freddy, but perhaps it might be a fitting future for you.
I doubt you’d be missed in psychiatric circles, given that you were never recognized as a figure of any note, and I’m certain your patients would somehow manage to do without your particular brand of care. Sad, really, to think how easily you could disappear without anyone taking notice. I suspect the only person who considers you of any importance is yourself, and soon enough you won’t know your own name.
Given our extensive history, I’m determined to find time to drop by for a visit before I relocate permanently. After I leave, it might make sense for the hospital to tattoo feeding instructions on your forehead to save paperwork.
I do so look forward to saying goodbye to you face to face.
