Allegra sat on the floor in the spacious closet. She flipped through a few fashion magazines, then tossed them aside. These did not matter anymore. Not now.

She looked around. Designer dresses. Designer shoes. Her life revolved around the finer things in life.

Now, the finest thing she ever owned was gone.

There were two lone papers among the fashion magazines. She picked up the first.

His obituary.

Fresh tears sprouted, but none seemed to flow as quickly as when she picked up the paper beside it.

An insurance policy form.

She sobbed.

“Pity I didn’t send it out sooner.”
