"Why do you think you must do as he tells you?"
His patient looked at him bewildered.
"How... How can I not do as he says? E-e-everything depends on it-" His voice rising in pitch now, Francis Dolarhyde looked wide-eyed at his psychiatrist. "I cannot become-" Abruptly he stops.
"Become what?" The doctor's voice quiet in the plush office.
"My becoming..." now distressed. "They must die for my becoming." He is resigned to telling the truth at last and, trusting, he asks, "Dr. Lecter, what should I do?"
