He remembers roller pigeons. Their discussions late in night in the black heart of the dungeon. Rolling down out of the sky in a majestic descent that few survive.
He remembers doves. A grieving mate keeping watch over it's dead companion, lying still on the cold ground. Refusing to leave, waiting for the impossible; it's mate to fly once again.
The newspaper headline today: ' 'HANNIBAL THE CANNIBAL' SHOT DEAD '
He bows his head in respect.
Outside, a disturbance causes several birds to start; together, a dark cloud.
Barney hopes the starling will not grieve for too long over her mate.
